Heard Around The Dojo Karate Class Thursday December 14th The karate class will be visiting Sensei Harry Persaud's dojo in Markham located in the Temple on 14th Ave and Kennedy Rd. All students are invited to attend and details of time and directions will be available at the dojo soon. Karate Classes Thursday November 23rd The adult karate class will be visiting Anshin Karate dojo in Mississauga on Thursday November 23rd from 8pm-9:30pm. Because of this we will be combining the 6:30pm and the 7:30pm children's Karate classes. The combined class will be held at 6:30pm and there will NOT be a 7:30pm class. Karate and Aikido Kyu Promotions Congratulations to everyone who passed their Karate and Aikido Kyu tests on Tuesday October 10th and Wednesday October 11th, 2006.

We are Moving!!! Plans are underway to relocate the dojo to 1652A Bayly St. We are very excited about this move. The new dojo will have many improvements including air-conditioning and showers. We will be located at the corner of Brock Rd and Bayly St, one unit west of the KIA car dealership. There is a lot of work to do inorder for us to move in by January 1st so please let us know if you have any expertise in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, painting, construction or woodworking. There will be lots of work for those without expertise but with time and enthusiasm. There will also be lots of work at the current dojo to restore it back to an empty unit. DVDs Now Available We now have available DVDs of all previous Dojo events, including your last kyu or dan test. Please order from the dojo or email the dojo. Renseikan Dojo Crests
The Renseikan Dojo Crests are now available at the dojo. They can be used in many ways, on your dogi it should go on the left side, over your heart. Upcoming Events
Click on any of the upcoming events listed below to learn more: On Wednesday November 29th we will be doing our "Hajime" training in the adult Aikido class. "Hajime" means to begin and we will be doing techniques rapidly on that command. It is an excellent cardio workout as well as an excellent training tool. When you must react quickly over and over to a command, you have no time to think about what you are going to do - you can only do. That is important in the martial arts. Be sure not to miss this class. After the class we will hold our Shinbokukai (Friendship event) at a local restaurant or in the dojo. Karate Friendship Night We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 8:45pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month. The next Kata night is Thursday November 23rd. Due to the dojo moving and all the work being done at this time we have arranged to hold the Kata night at Anshin Karate Dojo in Mississauga for that night. Please ask at the office for details or email us. Mustard Sensei Clinics Mustard Sensei will be at Shinpukan Dojo running a series of clinics from Friday November 17th to Sunday November 19th. Information on clinic times and location is posted in the dojo. Please plan on attending this very important Aikido event. Dojo Work We will be doing some major work in the current dojo in preparation for the move to the new location on Sunday November 19th 9am-5pm and Friday November 24th from 9:30am - 9:30pm and then out to Boston Pizza to relax. Please come out and help us get ready for the move. We will be doing demolition, painting and general work. More information will be posted on the white board at the dojo. CKF Jodo Seminar On Sunday, November 26th 11am- 3pm we will be holding a CKF Jodo Kyu Examination and Seminar at Aikido Yoshinkan Canada (AYC) in Toronto. Please click here for more information. Any CKF member wishing to take the National Kyu Exam must submit the required paperwork and fees to Ward Jardine (see the required paperwork for address) on or before Monday November 20th, 2006.
