Heard Around The Dojo Our new weapons rack A huge Thank You goes to Tony Gibson for his very creative work on making a new weapons rack for the dojo. With everyone learning Sai and Nunchaku and Tuifa, all the weapons were piling up on the floor. Tony asked if he could make a weapons rack for the dojo. With the help of Don O'Connell the rack was installed on Tuesday morning (Oct 28th) after the day class. Thank you again Tony. WMKA World Seminar - New York The World Seminar October 3-6, 2006 in Long Island, New York was a great success. It was one of the best seminar I have attended in years. Soke was in full teaching mode and so was Shinzo Sensei, who taught one Sai kata and demonstrated a nunchaku kata. It was decided last minute not to teach nunchaku because they are prohibited weapons in New York (as they are in Ontario as well). We were a little dissapointed but Soke made up for that in aces with some oyo bunkai for Naihanchi and Wankan kata. Gerard Capeillo Sensei, who hosted the seminar as well as hosted the Dojo Owmer's dinner at his home, was full of energy and a joy to work with. Williams Sensei (7th dan) was a treat to work with and a perfect gentleman (when he wasn't trying to take your head off). It was a time to see so many old friends and to make many new ones. I think this world seminar was truly inspiring for everyone who attended. Aikido Night
Corby Chapin had hurt his knee but instead of staying at home, he decided to come out to his Aikido class anyway and test our his super new toy - a new digital camera. The results will be here soon. He did this in June but I have just not had the time to sort out the pictures, resize them and get them up on the web site. We really should be using Flicker or something but until then I will continue to do it the very old way of placing each picture up on the site. I will try to get at least some up this week. Thank you very much Corby, they are excellent pics. Schedule Changes We have moved the Adult Karate day class to 9:15am from 10:00am. EFT Clinic Many of you have heard me talk about EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques, as a form of self help for virtually any problem you can think of. It is an easy tapping routine you learn to do on yourself which uses several key acupuncture points on the meridians. This energy healing technique was originally designed to cure people of phobias in record breaking time. Subsequently people have tried this very simple yet highly effective technique on a myriad of problems both physical and emotional. The key to getting very effective results with EFT is getting to the core issue underlying the problem. Working with someone, one-on-one or in a group, can often help you be more effective then on your own. The next EFT group workshop is on Sunday October 26th from 10am -12pm There will be a $15 fee for the session. The sessions are open to the public. Clinics will only run if sufficient numbers warrant it at that time, otherwise an alternate date will be arranged. Please call / write to register for the session. Adult Fall Party The adult Fall bbq & party is scheduled for Saturday October 25th, Please sign up in the dojo. We are looking for someone to "host" this years fall party. Please see or write sensei if you are interested. More details will follow.
