Heard Around The Dojo Shihan Ikuo Watanabe Sensei Please join us Thursday September 15th at 8pm when we host Yoshinkan Shihan Watanabe Sensei for the adult Aikido class. The class will start one hour earlier (8pm) and run until 10pm followed by a small party at sensei's home. Please note that on Thursday Sept 15 the adult class will be at 7pm instead of 8pm. Adults may feel free to come from 6pm - 8pm that evening. Okinawa Bound Chief Instructor, Ward Jardine Sensei, will be going to Okinawa to stay and train with Soke Nagamine in Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate-Do at the hombu dojo. All classes will be covered during Sensei's absence by our very capable team of black belts. Please note that during Sensei's trip to Okinawa, the day class on Monday Sept 19 will be held Tuesday Sept 20th and the Wednesday Sept 20 class will be held on Thursday Sept 22nd. New Day Classes Adult Karate day classes begin Wednesday September 7th. The class is open to all adult karate students. The classes are on Monday and Wednesdays from 10am - 11am. Please come out and join us. Please note that during Sensei's trip to Okinawa, the day class on Monday Sept 19 will be held Tuesday Sept 20th and the Wednesday Sept 20 class will be held on Thursday Sept 22nd. The Karate Kata/Friendship Night will be on Thursday September 29th at 7pm. The class will run from 7pm to 9pm and will be for all karate students. After the class, we will go out for food and socializing. The Aikido Hajime/Friendship Night will be Thursday September 8th beginning at 9pm. We will be going out afterwards for food and socializing. Yudansha Classes Black Belt classes run every Sunday at the Hombu dojo. Special classes for Karate and Aikido black belts from 10am (Karate) and 11:30am (Aikido). Please plan on attending these exclusive classes. Jodo Seminars We are pleased to announce we will be able to run Special Jodo Seminars throughout the year. Seminars will be tailored to your specific level and goals. Please call or write to arrange an Introductory or comprehensive Jodo Seminar for your dojo or group. Jodo is a 500 year old martial art that can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age or physical conditioning. It is a fantastic art to cross-train in or learn for it's own merits. Manuals, weapons and instructional DVDs can also be purchased as part of a package. Help Feed the World

Inspiration Renseikan Dojo Shirts We are taking orders for Renseikan Dojo T-Shirts, Crew neck Sweat shirts & Hooded Sweat Shirts. They come in a variety of colours and you have your choice of which martial art is on the front of the shirt. Print and fill out the order form and bring it in to the dojo to get your order processed. It can take 10-14 days to get the shirts so don't delay, order yours today. Click on any of the upcoming events listed below to learn more: Bring A Friend Promotion Introduce your friends or family to the martial arts. You can bring as many people as you like to try a martial arts class with you. All we need is a signed waiver (by a parent if the person is under 18 years old) and tell them to bring track pants and a t-shirt for the class.
On Thursday September 8th we will be doing our "Hajime" training in the adult Aikido class. "Hajime" means to begin and we will be doing techniques rapidly on that command. It is an excellent cardio workout as well as an excellent training tool. When you must react quickly over and over to a command, you have no time to think about what you are going to do - you can only do. That is important in the martial arts. Be sure not to miss this class. We will be going out after the class for a social event.
Karate Friendship Night We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 7:00pm Youth/Family class and or for the 8pm Adult class.
