Schedule Change

Starting Thursday September 21st, the Fall/Winter Schedule of Classes will be in effect. Download it here. The only change at this time is the restarting of the Aikido and Karate day classes on Tuesday and Thursday.

Karate in the Park

The day started off a little tentative. Would it rain or not. It turned into a fantastic day. A light shower while we sat in zazen at the top of the hill looking into a picturesque park. Then it got hot to dry us all off. The workouts were kihon, kata, kicks, running, bunkai on the hill, kumite, yakusoku kumite and self-defense along with some other activities. We made use of the playground equipment, the wading pool and a picnic table. Thanks to everyone who attended and gave up their Sunday to train in karate-do. Click on the picture above for some pictures of our day. Thanks to Sensei Joe, who remembered his camera and managed to get a few pictures towards the end of the day.

DVDs Now Available

We now have available DVDs of all previous Dojo events, including your last kyu or dan test. Please order from the dojo or email the dojo.

Renseikan Dojo Crests

The Renseikan Dojo Crests are now available at the dojo. They can be used in many ways, on your dogi it should go on the left side, over your heart.

Bring A Friend Week

September 18th starts our next Bring A Friend Week at Renseikan Dojo. This is an excellent opportunity for you to get a friend, relative, neighbour or someone you work with to get involved in the fascinating world of Martial Arts. You can bring them to your class or to one of the other martial arts we offer here at Renseikan Dojo. For friends under 19, we need a waiver signed by a parent. Download the waiver form here

Karate Friendship Night

We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 8:45pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month. The next Kata night is Thursday September 28th

Aikido Hajime Class

On Wednesday September 27th we will be doing our "Hajime" training in the adult Aikido class. "Hajime" means to begin and we will be doing techniques rapidly on that command. It is an excellent cardio workout as well as an excellent training tool. When you must react quickly over and over to a command, you have no time to think about what you are going to do - you can only do. That is important in the martial arts. Be sure not to miss this class. After the class we will hold our Shinbokukai (Friendship event) at a local restaurant or in the dojo.

CKF Jodo Seminar

On Sunday, September 24th 11am - 2pm we will be holding a CKF Jodo Seminar at Aikido Yoshinkan Canada (AYC) in Toronto. Cost is $20.00 per person and includes sushi and beverage. Please sign up in the dojo or email the dojo to register. Fees must be paid in advance. The seminar is open to all CKF members.
