Heard Around the Dojo
Karate In the Park
Sept 21, 2003
On Sunday September 21st some of the karate students took to the great outdoors and spent a beautiful day training in Adam's Park. The weather was perfect and both the karate training and the kyu tests went very well. Click on the above picture for some preliminary pictures from the morning. We will have more pictures from both events soon.
August Outdoor Karate Workout
On Saturday August 9th, some of the karate students braved the grey and wet morning (which quickly changed to a beautiful sunny day) for our second Karate Outdoor Workout.Special thanks to Sensei Steve Trombley from the Anshin Dojo in Mississauga for joining us. We covered basics, kata, bo kata, bunkai and sticky hands. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to seeing everyone out in September at Adam's Park. (date to be confirmed)
Aikido Hiryukan Demonstration in Barrie
On Saturday August 2nd, Raymond, Saeed and Sensei traveled to Barrie and visited Sensei Stephen Ohlman and the Hiryukan Dojo. The Hiryukan dojo and Renseikan dojo put on a demonstration at the Barrie Fair. It was an outdoor demo, in the pouring rain. The mats area was small, wet, uneven but they had a great time. Special thanks to Raymond and Saeed for also taking uke for Sensei Ohlman. The Hiryukan dojo is in its NEW location and looks fantastic. We are awaiting the Grand Opening and plan on attending it. There was just too much rain to take any pictures but someone did video tape it and we will get a copy soon.

Kata Night
We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 8pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month.
