Heard Around the Dojo
Congratulations Saeed
Congratulations to Saeed Mirafzal(above left) on achieving his Shodan, first degree black belt, in Aikido on Sunday June 29th. Saeed will receive his belt shortly and his certificate is being ordered from Hombu dojo in Japan. Saeed invited everyone over to his home for a BBQ after the test just to say thank you for everyone's help during the last few months of hard training for this special day. Annual Family Picnic and BBQ
The Annual Family Picnic and BBQ was a big success. On Saturday June 14th families got together at Greenwood Conservation Area and had a fun day in the beautiful weather. Special thanks has to go to Roger Tait who again this year did all the cooking. His usual cooking side-kick Belle was busy taking care of Dylan so Sensei and Mark tried to help as much as possible. Spring Jodo Seminar
The Guelph Spring Iaido & Jodo Seminar was attended by both adult and children Renseikan members. This is the first year children have attended the seminar and they all did a remarkable job. The sensei's from Japan were all very impressed with all our students. On Sunday, Lynn Elwood tested and passed her shodan exam and Dalmane B. passed his ikkyu exam. Congratulayions to both of them.
Newest Dojo Member
Welcome Dylan Ward Jardine-Wong to the Renseikan Dojo. Sensei and Belle are proud to announce the birth of Dylan Jardine-Wong. Dylan was born at home on Friday May 9th, 2003 at 2:35pm and came in at 9lbs 6oz. Belle is doing great.
Children's Aikido
Children's Aikido classes are Monday 7:00pm - 8:00pm and Friday 7:00pm - 8:00pm. The classes are starting to grow. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, invite them out to try the class. Remember parents can can do the class with their child and enjoy all the same benefits of the martial arts.

Kata Night
We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 8pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month.

The students of Renseikan Dojo are invited to join a student only email list. Just click here to subscribe. Belle Wong and Lynn Elwood are the moderators and all questions should be directed to them through the group.
