Kristin H. (karate) placed second in the Pickering Rotary Music Festival for Piano Solo, List A, Grade 3 for her piece entitled Musette by J.S, Bach

Corey H. (karate) placed second in the Pickering Rotary Music Festival for Piano Solo, List B, Grade 2 for his performance of March of the Goblins by Boris Berlin. The adjudicator announced that the children playing in this category received the highest marks that were handed out to date and the audience should give the students a well deserved standing ovation. Of course, everyone did!

Kristin H. (karate) also received first place for her piece entitled Clowns by Dmitri Kabalevsky in the Pickering Rotary Music Festival for her Piano Solo, List C, Grade 3. Well done!

In addition to all the musical talent, Corey H.(karate) has been playing Minor Atom Hockey for the Scarborough SHA Hockey Association. On Monday, he and his team won the finals and are now the 2002-2003 playoff champions. Maybe the Maple Leafs should leave room for an extra defenseman!

Last week Sean Mc. (aikido/jodo) placed First in the Pickering Rotary Music Festival. Sean placed First in Solo Poetry 12 years and Under. Great Job Sean!! Good Luck in the Peel Region Music Festival.

Hayley Mc. (aikido/jodo) also entered the Pickering Rotary Music Festival. Hayley placed First in the Canadian Poetry 10 years and Under. Fantastic Job Hayley!! Good Luck in the Peel Region Music Festival.

Also Gale Wood (karate) did Fantastic in the Hamilton 30km Run. She had a time of 2:57:52.3 which is an incredible pace of 5 minutes and 56 seconds per kilometer. (Don't forget she ran this pace for 30 kilometers!!!) Great work Gale and good luck as you prepare for your first full marathon race in May (Ottawa).

More drama news.... Sean Mc. and Hayley Mc. entered the Peel Region Music Festival and placed Third in Under 12 Years of age Duologue (two person monologue). Congratulations Sean and Hayley.

And the Oscar goes to..... Yes, there is more exciting News on the Drama Scene. Congratulations once again to Hayley Mc. (aikido/jodo) as she placed First in Poetry - 9 and Under at rhe Peel Music Festival.

Hayley Mc. was very busy at the Peel Music Festival and also placed Third in Drama - 11 and Under. Excellent work with all those older children.

Kata Night

We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 8pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month.
