Going to Okinawa

We are planning a trip to Okinawa in the fall - more deatils to follow.

Newsletter

Sorry, I have been so pre-occupied with the move and other things that I did not update the Newsletter since January. I will stay on top of now. Anyone who has any items, stories etc that should be in here, please email then to me.

New Dojo

We have moved and finally we are in our new location. The new dojo is located in Dunbarton-Fairport United Church. We have classes Monday, Thursday eveings and Saturday mornings. The beautiful room we have Monday and Thursday is, I believe, the original church from 1881. It is fantastic. Saturday's we are in a smaller room but will usually have the option of a bigger room. We also have the option of outside as we did for the Aikido this past Saturday. If you have not been out to class this week, please plan on attending next week and help us prepare for the upcoming kyu and dan testings as well as our Grand Opening Demonstration.

Help Feed the World

Help end world hunger

Please click on the new link on our sidebars (as well as above). By playing this educational game (vocabulary builder), you can help feed the world. The sponsors of this site donate 20 grains of rice for every correct answer you get while playing the game. They work with the United Nations World Food Program.

Renseikan Dojo Shirts

We are taking orders for Renseikan Dojo T-Shirts, Crew neck Sweat shirts & Hooded Sweat Shirts. They come in a variety of colours and you have your choice of which martial art is on the front of the shirt. Print and fill out the order form and bring it in to the dojo to get your order processed. It can take 10-14 days to get the shirts so don't delay, order yours today. We also have weapons, uniforms and other good ideas. Please ask for our new price list at the dojo soon.

Renseikan Dojo Crests

The Renseikan Dojo Crests are now available at the dojo. They can be used in many ways, on your dogi it should go on the left side, over your heart.

Bring-A-Friend Week
EFT Clinic
Aikido Hajime Training
Karate Friendship Night

Bring A Friend Week

Introduce your friends or family to the martial arts. During the Week of March 15th - 20th you can bring as many people as you like to try a martial arts class with you. All we need is a signed waiver (by a parent if the person is under 18 years old) and tell them to bring track pants and a t-shirt for the class.

EFT Clinic

Many of you have heard me talk about EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques, as a form of self help for virtually any problem you can think of. It is an easy tapping routine you learn to do on yourself which uses several key acupuncture points on the meridians. This energy healing technique was originally designed to cure people of phobias in record breaking time. Subsequently people have tried this very simple yet highly effective technique on a myriad of problems both physical and emotional. The key to getting very effective results with EFT is getting to the core issue underlying the problem. Working with someone, one-on-one or in a group, can often help you be more effective then on your own.

EFT group workshops are on the last Sunday of the month starting at 9am held at the Hombu dojo. There will be a $20 fee for the session. The sessions are open to the public. Clinics will only run if sufficient numbers warrant it at that time, otherwise an alternate date will be arranged. Please call / write to register for the session in advance.

Aikido Hajime Class

On Thursday March 25th we will be doing our "Hajime" training in the adult Aikido class. "Hajime" means to begin and we will be doing techniques rapidly on that command. It is an excellent cardio workout as well as an excellent training tool. When you must react quickly over and over to a command, you have no time to think about what you are going to do - you can only do. That is important in the martial arts. Be sure not to miss this class.

Karate Friendship Night

We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 7:15pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month. The next Kata night is Thursday March 25th
