Heard Around The Dojo Girl Guide Seminar
Our March 2nd Girl Guide Self-defense seminar went very well. Thanks to Laura for setting it up. The three sessions with the Guides, Rangers and Pathfinders focused on self defense techniques and a lot of fun. Thank you also to Sempai Lynn, Sempai Kelly and Donna for assisting that evening. Steven Kubien graciously made a tanto rack for the dojo quite some ago. He couldn't stand seeing the tantos on the floor and insisted that they should be on a rack and that he could make one. He did and we put put the tantos on the rack and leaned it up against the wall. It never went any further. Don O'Connell finally decided that we should put the rack up and brought in his tools and put it up. Thanks to Don and very big thank you to Steve. Kagami Biraki Shiki & Pot Luck
Sunday January 18th's Kagami Biraki featured demonstrations by all the black belts and a nice Pot Luck party. Everyone enjoyed themselves and thoroughly enjoyed watching the various demonstrations, which were all very impressive.Click on the picture above for some more pictures. Help Feed the World

Click on any of the upcoming events listed below to learn more: Bring A Friend Week Introduce your friends or family to the martial arts. During the Week of March 2nd and 9th, you can bring as many people as you like to try a martial arts class with you. All we need is a signed waiver (by a parent if the person is under 18 years old) and tell them to bring track pants and a t-shirt for the class. EFT Clinic Many of you have heard me talk about EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques, as a form of self help for virtually any problem you can think of. It is an easy tapping routine you learn to do on yourself which uses several key acupuncture points on the meridians. This energy healing technique was originally designed to cure people of phobias in record breaking time. Subsequently people have tried this very simple yet highly effective technique on a myriad of problems both physical and emotional. The key to getting very effective results with EFT is getting to the core issue underlying the problem. Working with someone, one-on-one or in a group, can often help you be more effective then on your own. The next EFT group workshop is on Sunday March 29th at 1pm There will be a $15 fee for the session. The sessions are open to the public. Clinics will only run if sufficient numbers warrant it at that time, otherwise an alternate date will be arranged. Please call / write to register for the session.
On Thursday March 26th we will be doing our "Hajime" training in the adult Aikido class. "Hajime" means to begin and we will be doing techniques rapidly on that command. It is an excellent cardio workout as well as an excellent training tool. When you must react quickly over and over to a command, you have no time to think about what you are going to do - you can only do. That is important in the martial arts. Be sure not to miss this class.
Karate Friendship Night We would like to invite any karate-ka who practice Matsubyashi-Ryu to join us for the last Thursday of every month. After a good warm-up of kihon (basics) we start kata practice and sometimes also add Bunkai (application) and Yakusoku Kumite (pre-arranged sparring) practice to the evening. Our dojo is open to all, regardless of rank or associations. This is a non-political dojo and a fun night of training together in the true spirit of Nagamine Shoshin Sensei's Karate-Do. If you are interested in joining us please contact us for directions and times or feel free to drop in for the 8:45pm adult class on the last Thursday of each month. The next Kata night is Thursday March 26th
