Watanabe Sensei, 7th dan Yoshinkan Aikido, Ayase Dojo, Tokyo, Japan was our very special guest instructor on Friday March 22nd for an exciting class. Watanabe Sensei has a very warm way of teaching. Watanabe Sensei was also the special guest at Karasawa Sensei's Annual demonstration (Seimeikan Dojo) on Saturday March 23rd (see above).

Kata Night

Kata Night is getting to be a popular event. We are delighted that other dojo have been attending these nights and we hope that this will only continue to grow. Kata is the mainstay of traditional martial arts.

*** Summer Day Camps ***

This year Renseikan Dojo, in association with Zen Living Studios, will be holding week-long summer day camps for children ages 7 and up. The camps will run Monday to Friday, from 9:00am - 3:30pm. There are two camp sessions available, and registration will be on a first come first serve basis. The cost for each session is $150.00 plus a small materials fee (expected to be between $10 - $12).

In the Martial Arts component of the camp, the children will learn karate, aikido, judo and basic self-defence. They will also participate in various creative arts, including clay sculpture, painting and collage (mandalas and self-portraits), book arts (altered books and handmade books) and mail art (postcard art and artistamps).

Please contact the Dojo or call us at 905-427-8883 to register your child(ren) for one or both of the two weeks.

Week One: July 22 - July 26, 2002 Week Two: August 19 - August 23, 2002

New Day Classes

Day classes have begun. The classes run Monday and Wednesday 1:30pm - 2:30 pm and Saturday 10:00 am. This is an excellent opportunity for stay at home parents or people who work evenings and nights. Anyone interested in attending these classes should talk to sensei at the dojo or contact us for more information.
