Welcome to our main Jodo Page at Renseikan Dojo. Renseikan Dojo is a full-time martial arts school providing martial arts instruction for students in the Durham Region (Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa) and east Toronto (Scarborough).

Renseikan Dojo offers beginners and advanced Jodo classes for children, adults and families. Jodo is a traditional Japanese weapon martial art developed in 16th century Japan. At Renseikan, we teach the Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei form of Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo. Our instructors emphasize students' self-development through rigorous, disciplined training in basic movements, partner work, and Seitei and Koryu kata.

Students will be immersed in the Japanese cultural aspects of jodo while they learn Terminology, techniques and kata requirements for the various jodo kyu (non black belts ranks) and dan (black belt ranks) levels. All this information is taught in the classes and can be found in the Student Manual.

Students may invite their friends to try a class. Just download a Bring A Friend form and bring it into the dojo for a free trial class.

Renseikan Dojo is a member of the Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF)as a Jodo practicing dojo. All our national registered ranks are awarded by the CKF`s grading board which currently sits twice a year (May and October). The information for national ranks is available on our CKF Information Page.
